Grief and loss play a significant role in my art making. I created a series of 8 collages with a theme of day and night helping me through my grief. Warm, sunny days brought purpose for me and the crisp night-time blues brought clarity. Layering hand painted papers and creating lines which connect certain shapes helped me stay connected with those whom I have physically lost. Arranging, glueing and stapling fragmented pieces is symbolic of the Japanese Kintsugi art of mending broken pieces into something even more beautiful than before. This process awakens an excitement in me of endless possibilities that will last me a lifetime.
